Very good bishop. Give him an ambassador position

BISHOP MALCOM PLEASE STOP PLAYING POLITICS. YOU DO YOUR MINISTRY, THE HOLY MOTHER CHURCH DID NOT APPOINT YOU, TO GET INVOLVED IN POLITICS. LEAVE POLITICS TO THE POLITICIAN…..OK.
church now you have a clear choice do not hide from politics or worship money if you have true love for the country and the citizen of Sri Lanka pray for true peace and dignity for all sri lankans.
Dear Archbishop, Why don’t u tell the GOSL to release the innocent tamil civilians. Then easilly the SL can get the GSP plus. Why don’t u visit the IDP camps and have some prayers for them which could bring mental satisfaction, patience and confidence on them and they may start to trust others.A pretty good number of catholics are suffering in the IDP camps. As a archbishop, what did u do for them.I think the religious leaders have to play a vital role to bring peace and development in this country.
The crimes by Sl govt cannot be confined/accomodated in a confession booth. THEY have to pay for their SINS!
abeya singee
Well. Now you know the reason why the President visited him. My opinion is that religious leaders should confine their activities to religious related affairs only and not get involved in politics. Politicians violate all forms of norms and then seek religious pardon. What the Bishop says here to the EU is that forget about our human track records and grant GSP plus, an indirect encouragement for future leaders of the country. Looks funny!
Mr. Archbishop Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith , why don’t you advice Mr. Mihinda to treat atleast your fellow Tamil Christian as a human being and release them from the Open Jail right wat.So you are also Singala Christian
you should keep yourself engaged in church/religious matters and nothing beyond that. You are not a politician. This is how the buddisht monks by getting into politics have spoilt SL.
Can you also please ask the governemnt to release Tissainayagam and other political prisoners? Thanks.
Appu hammy
My dearest god please forgive this man! you haven’t opened your mouth regarding human rights violations against Tamils in the country but immedeatly made a statment after someone visited you. Tamil minority could argue that you have made this statment because Sinhalese majority and the current leadership going to get affected by this.
Rev. Mr. Ranjith, where were you when innocent people were killed like dogs, when the feedom os speech etc were cremated in this country. Now opening your mouth to ask for benefits from EU. Dream on..
How can we achieve true peace and justice by GSP.The Government is not ready to give any kind of solution to the Ethic problem. The Archbishop should stay within the limit without enter into politic. If the Bishop says that the Church also has his duty to talk about this problem, the same Church also has the right to solve the long-standing Ethnic problem. Why can’t the Bishops get-together and propose a solution for the problem.
Excellent leadership!Congratulations!!!
Don’t bow down to Europeans. Follow our great leader and our Defence secretary. They will lead our country in the right direction with the help of Libya and Pallestine. Mr. Kohana also working on Asian markets.

It is not petty politics!!! It is life and death of 300,000 imprisoned in the concentration camps and 20,000+ civilians murdered in the “safe zone”by the state which was supposed to protect them!!!
Archbishop Rev. Dr. Malcolm Ranjith is supposed to preach the gospel and not doing politics, as many of our monks have fallen into the hands of politico as a result we witness deteriorating condition in the practice of dharma, but preaching only. pls stay away from politics, the Government is quite capable of handling it on its own, if they were able to defeat ruthless terrorism, they are able to develop the country too.
The Archbishop should educate himself on the political situation completely before making statements such as these which could potentially cause much harm. Where is the evidence of any of our current leaders, whatever religion they may profess to follow, being fervent in their adherence to religious principles? They are only fervent in their efforts to amass more power and money and if this means that they kill, maim or imprison innocent civilians (be they christian or otherwise) so be it. Let the EU impose stringent conditions with regards to human rights and media freedom and let the government demonstrate that it is adhering to those conditions before the EU provides any financial assistance. At the very least the Archbishop should publicly call upon the government to demonstrate their commitment to human rights by freeing the journalists who have been wrongly imprisoned; by freeing the IDPs from the camps in which they are being held and by actively assisting them to reach their homes; by allowing humanitarian agencies into the camps so that they can assist the IDPs to re-settle themselves.
Can we bring back the life of Lasantha Wickramathunga or the others killed by the white van syndrome? Then we will get GSP + benifit easily?
Church Leaders should not get in to Politics.(Like some other Political Religious leaders). They Should speak for the People not the country. Jesus does not had any favourite nation but loved all people. Why Archbishop is making a statement on behalf of people who does not have any Proper plan for development of the country afdter the 30 years war and now trying to fool people again without a Budget for the year 2010 (which is the development plan for the year) and having a more elections to be in power for ever. This GSP issue was there for a period of year now and please refer the statements made the Govt. when people raise the issue. Now they wanted the Church to intervene. Do all bad and come to seek God and rescue When no other way.
It is not his call. The president has to call the EU. He has to conduct a proper impartial investigation on those war criminals. The more he delays the more the people are going to suffer.
I have never seen such a Bishop in the whole history of Sri Lanka who is trying to appease politicians this much. First he says President Rajapakse will be supported by the church and then tries to condone every action of this government. Please take care of your flock and stop trying to appease the president so much. I’m an ardent catholic and I hate to see my priests getting involved in party politics.
Dear Bishop Malcolm Ranjith, do not bring disgrace and sell your position in the catholic church similar to the way the sinhalese buddhists and their priests have disgraced, manipulated and desecrated the great teachings of Lord Buddha for petty politics and to meet their own personal ends. If you wish to comment about the GSP+ you also need to comment on the serious reasons why it is being denied including the horendous human rights violations that are perpetrated by no other than the forces who are supposed to protect and hold it in an exemplary manner. Your comments are a verbal sin to the post you hold and a shame to the faith.
Rev. When will you enter parliament through the UPFA? like the so called political Buddhist Monks. Most of them hated some of the fellow sri-lankans who lived in the North and east.
