வடமராட்சிக் கிழக்குப் பகுதிகளில் தமிழரின் வரலாற்றுத் தொன்மையை உறுதிப்படுத்தும் தொல்லியல் எச்சங்கள் காணப்படுவதாக யாழ். பல்கலைக்கழக வரலாற்றுத்துறைப் பேராசிரியர் செ.கிருஸ்ணராஜா தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.
வடமராட்சிக்கிழக்குப் பகுதிகளான அம்பன், குடத்தனை, நாகர்கோவில், பகுதிகளில் இத்தொல்லியல் எச்சங்கள் தொடர்ச்சியாக கண்டறியப்பட்டு வருவதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். தமது தலைமையிலான வரலாற்று ஆய்வுக்குழுவினர் நேரடியாக அவ்விடங்களுக்குச் சென்று இவற்றை உறுதிப்படுத்தியுள்ளதாகவும் அவர் தெரிவித்தள்ளார்.

இது தவிர தமிழ் பிராமி வடிவில் ‘நாகபூமி’ ‘பரராச’ போன்ற சொற்கள் பதிக்கப்பட்ட நாணயங்களும் நாகர்கோவிலில் இருந்து மீட்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாகவும் தெரிவித்துள்ள பேராசியர் கிருஸ்ணராஜா அப்பகுதிகளில் மணல் அகழ்வுப்பணிகளில் ஈடுபடுவோர் இத்தொல்லியல் பொருட்களுக்குச் சேதம் விளைவிக்காமல் தொல்பொருட்கள் கண்டெடுக்கப்படுமானல் அவற்றை யாழ்.பல்கலைக்கழக வராற்றுத்துறையில் ஒப்படைத்துதவுமாறும் வேண்டுகோள் விடுத்துள்ளார்.

Tamil media in general have been under reporting our heritage for reasons which I suspect to do with lack of news value compared to changing political events.
A review of media reporting of Tamil heritage news will show an abysmal record, a serious deficiency which has to be addressed as the majoritarian nationalists have been using archaeology, literature history and other tools to undermine Tamil’s historical presence in the island and their legitimate claim to their ownership of their land.
I hope Thesamnet and other Tamil media would give due importance to Tamil heritage reporting as this would enhance Tamil’s claim to shared history of the island.
