கடந்த ஆண்டு ஜனவரி 8ல் படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்ட சண்டே லீடர் பத்திரிகையின் ஆசிரியர் லசந்தா விக்கிரம சிங்கவின் (சண்டே லீடர் ஆசிரியரின் படுகொலையை தேசம்நெற் வன்மையாகக் கண்டிக்கிறது. : த ஜெயபாலன்) நினைவாக இலங்கையில் பத்திரிகைச் சுதந்திரம் என்ற தலைப்பில் லண்டனில் மாநாடு ஒன்று ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளது. Tamil Legal Advocacy Project (TLAP) என்ற அமைப்பே இம்மாநாட்டை ஏற்பாடு செய்துள்ளனர். தங்களை சுயாதீன அமைப்பு என http://www.tlap.org.uk/ வெளிப்படுத்தி வருகின்ற அமைப்பு நடந்து முடிந்த யுத்தத்தில் யுத்தக் குற்றங்கள் இடம்பெற்றுள்ளதாகவும் இனப்படுகொலை இடம்பெற்றுள்ளதாகவும் அதற்கான தண்டனை சம்பந்தப்பட்டவர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்றும் குரல் எழுப்பி வருகின்றனர். இது தொடர்பான கருத்தரங்கு ஒன்றினை இவ்வமைப்பினர் சில மாதங்களுக்கு முன்னர் கொன்வே ஹோலில் ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
லசந்தா படுகொலை செய்யப்பட்ட ஜனவரி 8ம் நாளில் இந்தியன் வைஎம்சிஏ யில் இம்மாநாட்டுக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளது. இம்மாநாட்டில் முன்னணி மனித உரிமைச் சட்டத்தரணியான கியூசி ஹெலனா கென்னடி மற்றும் இலங்கையில் இருந்து புலம்பெயர்ந்த பத்திரிகையாளர்கள் உரையாற்றுகின்றனர்.
இம்மாநாட்டிலும் இலங்கையில் இடம்பெற்ற மனித உரிமை மீறல்கள் போர்க் குற்றங்கள் பற்றிய விசாரணைக்கான குரல்களுக்கு அழுத்தம் வழங்கப்படும் என ஏற்பாட்டாளர்களில் ஒருவரான சட்டத்தரணி அருண் கனநாதன் தேசம்நெற் க்குத் தெரிவித்தார். இந்நிகழ்வு முற்றிலும் மனித உரிமைகள் சம்பந்தப்பட்டது என்றும் சர்வதேச விசாரணைக்கான அழுத்தங்களை வழங்குவதற்காக ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு உள்ளது என்றும் அவர் தெரிவித்தார்.
